As Lower Sixth students start thinking about their plans for life after Woldingham, we held an online event on Tuesday 18 January to explain the UCAS process for applying to UK universities and share information on the increasing number of alternatives to help students decide if university is the best choice for them.

After starting with a session about what UCAS is and how we support applications at Woldingham so students make strong applications, Lucy Yarde from the University of Exeter provided a a fascinating insight into what university has to offer and how to choose the right course.

Rob Evans, Head of Admissions at the University of Sussex, spoke about what admissions teams look for in an application, current trends and issues in higher education. The final talk, from apprenticeships expert Sue Taylor of AskApprenticeships, explored the increasing number of exciting opportunities for degree and higher apprenticeships as additional choices to UCAS.

The sessions concluded with plenty of questions for our expert panel from both students and parents.

We had hoped that this would a live in-person event held at school, but sadly had to move it online. One advantage of ‘going virtual’ is that parents and students can view the recording.
