Between them, Woldingham’s music scholars brought power, subtlety, ethereal and dramatic moments to the auditorium on Thursday 14 October. Each of them conveyed wonderful musicality and emotion, and skill and dedication to their craft and their instrument, which at this term’s Music Scholars’ Concert comprised bassoon, harp, violin, voice, flute, clarinet and piano.

The audience in the auditorium and watching via the livestream enjoyed performances of works by composers ranging from Chopin to Sam Cooke, and songs from Elton John to Robert Schumann. Details of the full programme are shown below.

As Director of Music Mr John Hargreaves remarked at the end of the concert, it was wonderful to see our music scholars “perform with such confidence and ease”. He also said he hoped they all realise that what they do matters, communicating through music with great composers and their audience.
