Woldingham students are celebrating 2021 A Level results day accepting places at top UK and international universities including the University of Cambridge, RADA and Central Saint Martins in the UK and MIT and Cornell in the USA.

‘I am hugely proud of all that our Upper Sixth students have achieved over this last year as well as throughout their time at Woldingham. Our Upper Sixth students have demonstrated resilience and determination; they should be very proud of all they have achieved not just in their A Levels but in the music, drama, sport, art and every other aspect of life at Woldingham, which makes it such a special place to be at school,’ said Dr James Whitehead, Woldingham Head.

‘Our aim is to support and enable students to ‘write your own story’ and the range of outstanding institutions and universities and breadth of courses students have chosen demonstrate this perfectly. Subjects chosen range from art to veterinary science, from computer science to drama and from medicine to theology. They have such an exciting future ahead and on behalf of everyone at Woldingham we wish them the very best of luck in whatever they do next.’

Woldingham’s outgoing Head Girl Charlotte, who will take a four-year Joint Honours degree in  Modern European Languages and History at Durham University, added: ‘I am so excited to start at Durham this autumn. I have loved my time at Woldingham and am hugely appreciative of the opportunities and support I have received in both an extra-curricular and an academic sense. I’ve made friends for life here, and I am so looking forward to seeing the amazing things they get up to in the future - our 10-year reunion will be a good one! Thank you to all our incredible teachers for all their support in what has been a stressful year, we couldn’t have done it without them and I hope to see them all soon.’

Woldingham students are headed off to a very wide range of universities. Outgoing Deputy Head Girls lead the way with Sofia reading theology at Downing College, Cambridge; Misan going to Warwick to take a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Law (PPL) and Milan heading to St Andrews to read computer science.

So many students excelled, showing incredible resilience in their studies throughout the pandemic. Emily has secured a highly competitive place to study veterinary science at the University of Liverpool with Gemma choosing to study medicine in London at UCL and Ria gaining a place to read medicine at the University of Southampton. STEM subjects are always popular with Woldingham students. Alice and Imogen who won Gold certificates in the 2021 Chemistry Olympiad are both continuing to study science. Alice is going to Imperial in London to study chemistry and Imogen has chosen a BSc in Natural Sciences at the University of Bath. Grace, who won one of only five Ada Lovelace Scholarships offered by the University of Southampton, will study computer science with cyber security there and Ching, who was awarded a Think Big scholarship from the University of Bristol, will study accounting and finance.

Woldingham’s strong track record in drama and art continues this year with Theo winning a place at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) and Daisy travelling to New York to take up a place at the prestigious Parsons School of Design.

Woldingham Sport Scholar and GB skier Sophie, who represented Great Britain at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland in January 2021, has a place at Durham to study accounting and finance while continuing with her skiing.

Other popular university choices for Woldingham students include Edinburgh, Exeter, Manchester, Sussex and London, including LSE.
