In conversation with Keisha Frimpong Sept 22

“The best degree ever” was Woldingham alumna (2020) Keisha’s succinct summation of studying history of art at the University of Edinburgh during her “In Conversation With” session at lunchtime on Thursday 29 September.

Students gathered in the History of Art classroom as Keisha ‘zoomed in’ for an informal Q&A with Head of Department Mr Cullen. Keisha explained how History of Art is much more than the study of individual artworks and that her passion stems from learning about the politics and culture of places all over the world during different periods of history that influenced artworks’ creation. The in-depth research and thought on this wide-ranging sphere of influence means the study of history of art develops many highly transferrable skills. Keisha had first-hand experience of this when working on brand strategy at a marketing company in her summer break.

Keisha’s enjoyment of studying in Edinburgh also shone through - “a real student city”, “lots of art galleries”, “small enough to walk everywhere”. However, it was the love of her subject that really resonated and may have sown seeds in the minds of students starting to consider degree courses or thinking of trying something new at A Level.
